How Does Unaccompanied Minor Service Work with Latam?

When the unaccompanied minor arrives at the airport, they will receive a bracelet with a code at one of the Latam Airlines counters. The airlines will understand the code and update the information in the travel tracking tool after each part of the trip.

Here are the stages of the Latam unaccompanied minor traveling alone service:

Pre-boarding –  Before boarding the flight, the child will receive a bracelet with a code at one of our counters. The code will be read at the end of their turn. This is where parents or legal guardians begin tracking.
Boarding lounge and boarding –  During the boarding process, LATAM staff will be with the child to provide professional assistance. Afterward, the child will be guided to the aircraft, where the crew will look after them.

Documents Required for Unaccompanied Minors Travelling Alone

Regardless of the domestic and international travel, under the Latam unaccompanied minor policy, the minor needs to present a valid passport or birth certificate. In addition –

  • If a minor is traveling alone with one parent, the other parent who is not accompanying them must also provide a notarized authorization.
  • If a child is traveling alone, both parents need to notarize their consent.

How to Book Unaccompanied Minor Travel with Latam Airlines?

Passengers can ask for the service for children traveling alone, without an adult, up to 48 hours before the planned departure. Passengers can ask for the service using –

Online – When you book a flight for a minor online, you have the option to book the flight at the same price as an adult ticket and choose the unaccompanied minor service. The fee for unaccompanied minors on Latam flights is already included in the ticket price. Once you receive the confirmation, the airline will send you the form for unaccompanied minors. To complete the task, you should print the document and remember to bring a signed copy with you.
Airline Customer Service-  Once you have booked your flight, you have the option to choose the unaccompanied minor service. You can also call customer service to book a flight for an unaccompanied minor.

If a passenger has already requested unaccompanied minor service, one of the child’s parents or guardians must accompany the child on the day of travel. To complete the unaccompanied minor form, please provide the following information:

  • Name, last name, and the minor’s age.
  • Name, last name, contact information, and address of the person who would be dropping off the child.
